May Day
On May 1st, a nationwide protest is planned to express solidarity. This will be a nonviolent act of economic disruption. No work, no school, no shopping. “MayDay” is also a distress signal - and this is a moment of distress. The Trump regime has created this emergency - war, rising prices, terrorizing our neighbors, threatening our midterm elections, pillaging our environment, and shredding our safety nets, all while the billionaire class profits from dismantling our government. Join the 5 Bridges Brigade: Hold banners and signs on FIVE overpasses across Nevada City and Grass Valley. Two shifts: 11 am - 1 pm and 1 pm - 3 pm.
Workers, students, and families: no work, no school, no shopping. (Students under 18 need a parent's OK not to attend school.) If you must shop, go small, go local, use cash.
Join the 5 Bridges Brigade. Hold banners and signs on five overpasses across Nevada City and Grass Valley. Two shifts: 11am–1pm and 1pm–3pm. Sign up for a bridge shift below:

Kitty's Celebration of Life
Come celebrate with us the life of Kitty Gerwig at the new NCD Headquarters, Thursday, April 9, 1200 E. Main St., Suite C, Grass Valley. 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM
From 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, we will stand together and share stories about Kitty. At 6:00 PM, Christina (Kitty’s landlady) will read passages from some words of inspiration Kitty wrote in a book we found.
There will be some of the bonsai plants that Kitty has grown for decades. And we discovered she had quite a collection of ceramic art from her college years, and beyond that, it shows an extremely charming side of her that I suspect many of us didn’t realize was there.
Bring snacks :) No need to RSVP. This is very informal, and we look forward to seeing you there.
